Alligator Alley

Be careful when you walk in to Room 14 because we have created our own Alligator Alley.  It's full of the meanest looking Alligators and they look very hungry!

Literacy Rotation

Here are some of the activities we do at our Literacy Rotation.  There are soooooo many to learn, but we are having so much fun learning them

Tommy is working on sounds with playdough

Harriet and Oscar are learning their way around a keyboard as well as practicing their spelling

Duathlon

Some very sporty children form Room 14 entered the Duathlon held at Lake Hayes.  You had to run and bike a really long way.  Some children in Room 14 did especially well and got placings.  Tommy's mum was on hand to take some photos of the children that were placed.

Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week this week is the lovely Rebecca!

Rebecca has been amazing!  Always on task, always giving her best and always smiling.

Our Room 19 Buddies

We are enjoying getting to know our Room 19 Buddies.  They are really kind to us and we love reading to them!

Being Star of the Week

When you are star of the week in Room 14 you get lots of perks.

You get an extra comfy chair to sit on when everyone is sitting on the mat.

You get to be the leader of our class line when we go different places.

You get to answer the phone if another teacher is calling.

You get to be Miss Caldwell's helper for the week and...

Each day you get to share something special about yourself each day with the class.

This week Simon is our Star and today he shared some photos of his Mum and Dad's wedding.  He looked so handsome in his suit.  We loved hearing all about it.

Sketching Time!

One of our literacy rotation stations is called 

'Drawing and Sketching'  

We had a go at it today.  We drew alot of different things.  Miss Caldwell said it was cool looking at all the different drawings we did.

Bright Beach Towels

We all had amazing summer holidays in Room 14.  We talked about and wrote stories about all the great things we got up to.  We had a chat about the sorts of things that pop into our head when we think of summer and one of those things was 'Bright Beach Towels'.

We decided to make our own towels using pastel and real sand!

Make sure you pop in and see them, they are pretty cool!

Literacy Rotation

When Miss Caldwell is taking guided reading groups we work independently on something called a 'Literacy Rotation'.  

This week Miss Caldwell is showing us what we do at all the different stations so when she starts taking reading groups we are able to work on the activities all by ourselves.

Study Ladder

We have all been given our usernames and passwords so we can use Studyladder at home.  This is a great site to help us with our learning.  It would be great if we could have some time each day or week to go on Studyladder and see what it is all about.

Managing Ourselves

Now that we are big Year 2 children we have talked about how we are going to take responsibility for ourselves and get our belongings ready and organised throughout the day.

In the morning we are learning to unpack our bags all by ourselves without being reminded.  It's tricky stuff but we know we can do it!

First we put our reader back in our browsing box.

Next we put our book bag in our tote trays.

We pop our brainfood in our fruit bowl.

Lastly we put our drink bottle on the bench.
